Ken Hyder is a Scottish jazz fusion drummer and percussionist known for blending folk, Celtic, and ethnic music with jazz. He began his jazz career in Scotland before moving to London, where he performed at the avant-garde Little Theatre Club under John Stevens. In 1970, Hyder formed the pioneering Celtic jazz group Talisker. Over the decades, he has collaborated with a wide range of musicians, including Elton Dean, Maggie Nicols, Tim Hodgkinson, and Dick Gaughan, and explored musical traditions from Ireland, South Africa, and Siberia. Hyder has also published books on shamanism and music, including Black Sky, White Sky and How to Know: Spirit Music, Crazy Wisdom, Shamanism and Trips to the Black Sky.
