Cyclefly was formed in Cork, Ireland, in 1995 by guitarist Declan, bassist Christian, and drummer Nono. Their first release, the Cyclefly EP in 1998, introduced the single “Supergod” and set the stage for a breakthrough with the 1999 single “Violet High”. In May 1999, the band released their debut album Generation Sap on Radioactive Records, recorded at Sound City Studios and produced by Sylvia Massy; the album received critical acclaim and established the band’s presence on the alternative rock scene. A second album, Crave, followed on 8 April 2002 under MCA Records, produced by Colin Richardson, Bill Appleberry, and Tobias Miller. Cyclefly toured across the UK and Europe, supporting acts such as Bush, Live, and Iggy Pop, and performed at major festivals including Reading, Leeds, Woodstock 1999, and Ozzfest. The group disbanded in the early 2000s, with former members forming Hueman, That Falling Feeling, and later Mako DC.
