The Artist Life was a Canadian pop punk band from Burlington, Ontario, formed in 2005 by Ian Blackwood and Dean Richards. They released their first demo in 2006 and gained early traction with shows in Ontario. The band's breakthrough came with the release of the Living EP in early 2007, which led to radio play and a Young Jedi Up and Coming Band award from 102.1 The Edge. In September 2008, they signed with Underground Operations and released their second EP, Let's Start A Riot (2008). Notable songs also include "Piss Test" and "Sleep So Sound", the latter nominated for an FU Award for Song of the Year. In 2011, The Artist Life released their only full-length album, Impossible, featuring the single "Steel City". The band announced its disbandment on February 1, 2012.
