Nino de Angelo (born December 18, 1963, in Karlsruhe) is a German pop singer with Italian roots. Born Domenico Gerhard Gorgoglione, the artist was discovered as a teenager in a piano bar in Cologne. The singer released his first songs under the simple name Nino. In 1982, his debut single “Und Ein Engel Fliegt In Die Nacht” was released, this time under his stage name Nino de Angelo. His debut album, Junges Blut, followed in March 1983. Nino de Angelo released additional singles, including “Ich Sterbe Nicht Nochmal” and “Engel Und Teufel, Luisa.” At the end of 1983, the crooner achieved his breakthrough in Germany with the song “Jenseits Von Eden.” The song became a number-one hit in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The English version of the song even reached number 57 in the UK. The follow-up album Jenseits von Eden (1984) climbed to number 2 in Germany and Switzerland, and to number 5 in Austria. Overall, the 1980s were very successful for Nino de Angelo; with “Atemlos” (1984, from the album Nino) and “Flieger” (1989, from the album Flieger), he once again made it into the Top 20. After that, things quieted down significantly for the singer due to personal issues. Nino de Angelo subsequently tried to shed his image as a schlager singer. It wasn’t until 2021 and the album Gesegnet & Verflucht that he managed to return to the Top 10. The album reached No. 2 in both Germany and Austria. In Switzerland, it peaked at No. 8. With Von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit (2023) and Irgendwann im Leben (2025), the singer released two more successful Top 10 albums. In 2026, his next studio album, Vivi la Vita, was released. On it, Nino de Angelo sings Italian classics.
