Gaslight Radio was an Australian indie rock band formed in 1995 in Burleigh Heads, Queensland. Founded by brothers Martin Cooke on guitar, keyboards, and percussion, and Rory Cooke on vocals and guitar, the group was later joined by Simon Piper on drums and Phil Roubin on bass guitar. The band gained early attention with their debut EP Torchin' Towns, Hankerin Homes, released in August 1996, which featured the track "Tarmac and Line" and led to a recording and publishing deal with Lonely Guy Records and Mushroom Publishing/MDS. In September 1998, Gaslight Radio released their debut album, Hitch on the Leaves, which received critical acclaim, praised for its melodic songwriting and textured guitar work. They continued to release albums including Z-Nation in August 2003 and Good Heavens Mean Times in July 2006. The band disbanded in 2009.
