Laurel Sprengelmeyer, known professionally as Little Scream, was born in Iowa and is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She began her musical journey studying piano and violin as a child. After moving to Montreal, she connected with prominent Canadian musicians, including members of Arcade Fire and The National. Her debut album, The Golden Record, was released in 2011, co-produced by Richard Parry of Arcade Fire and received a Polaris Music Prize longlist nomination in the same year. Little Scream also sang on The National's album High Violet. In January 2016, she joined Merge Records and Dine Alone Records (Canada) and released her second album, Cult Following, on May 13, 2016. Her third studio album, Speed Queen, was released in 2019.
