Rogue Traders, an Australian electronic rock band, was formed in Melbourne, Victoria in 2002 by James Ash on keyboards and Steve Davis on guitar. Their initial releases under the Vicious Grooves label included the singles "Need You to Show Me" (2002) and "Give in to Me" (2002). The band's breakthrough came with their cover of INXS' "Need You Tonight," retitled as "One Of My Kind" (2003), which peaked at number 10 on the ARIA Singles Chart. In 2004, Natalie Bassingthwaighte joined as lead vocalist. Rogue Traders released Here Come The Drums in 2005 and Better In The Dark in 2007, both reaching the Top 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Their single "Voodoo Child" (2005) became an international hit, peaking at number 3 on the UK Singles Chart and number 4 in Australia. The band achieved seven Top 20 hits on the ARIA Singles Chart and was nominated for ten ARIA Awards, three MTV AVMA Awards, one Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award, one Inside Film Award, and eight APRA Awards. In 2008, Bassingthwaighte left the band to pursue her acting career, leading to a series of lineup changes. The group disbanded in 2010 after being dropped by Sony Records but reformed in December 2015 with Bassingthwaighte returning as lead vocalist. "To the Disco," their first new single in over a decade, came out in 2023 and interpolated one of the group's early tracks, "On Your Way to the Disco."
