Nikolas Belalis is a composer and pianist from Athens, Greece. He entered the world of classical music at the age of 10, when he took his first piano lessons, a decision that came after his listening to Chopin's music. During the years that followed, he discovered many composers who became a major influence to him: Albeniz, Dvorak, Rachmaninoff, Brahms, Elgar and above all J.S.Bach.
Although he started creating his own music at the age of 14, it wasn't until 25 years later (2019) that he decided to release his first album "Moments of a Never Ending Trip". In this work, composer's memories, images, emotions and experiences of his trips to several places and countries are expressed.
In the works that followed his first release, the influences from darkwave/gothic bands became more obvious, especially in the albums "The Anatomy Of Darkness" and "Parallel Lives".
The first one is some kind of a tribute to the composer's favourite artists from the darkwave scene whose music helped him realize how much beauty is hidden in melancholy and darkness.
"Parallel Lives" is a concept album that explores the delicate balance between confidence and hidden secrets that reshape relationships and realities. Each track delves into the allure of parallel paths, offering alternate choices that remain untaken. A musical reflection on human tendencies to cling to the familiar, even when better options exist.
