Whipping up a fiery mix of metal, punk, post-punk, and reggae, Welsh quartet Dub War was formed in Newport, Wales in 1993 by guitarist Jeff Rose, bassist Richie Glover, drummer Martin Ford, and reggae sound system vocalist Benji Webbe. The band made their debut at the end of 1993 with a self-titled EP, which was followed by a debut mini-album in 1994. They signed to Earache Records and released the Mental EP, with remixes from Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, and other contemporaneous favourites. 1995 saw the release of their first studio album, Pain, and its equally well-received follow-up, Wrong Side of Beautiful, which arrived in 1996. They dropped one more EP, Soundclash, and put out a string of singles – including the remix collection Step Ta Dis in 1998 – but split after its release. Dub War made a comeback in 2014, playing a one-off reunion show in Newport that eventually paved the way for a new single in March 2016, "Fun Done," their first new music since 1997. In March 2022, Dub War unleashed their third studio album Westgate Under Fire; their first album of all new material in 26 years, which featured guest spots from Stone Sour's Roy Mayorga, Faith No More's Mike Bordin, ska musician Ranking Roger, and more artists.
