Manikins, an Australian punk rock and new wave band from Perth, Western Australia, was formed in August 1976 by Mark Betts on drums. Initially known as Cheap Nasties, the group featured Dan Dare, Neil Fernandes, Robert Porritt, and Kim Salmon. Their debut gig took place at The Rivervale Hotel in mid-1977. After lineup changes, including Salmon's departure to form the Scientists, the band continued as Manikins with a more pop-oriented new wave sound. They released their first single, "I Never Thought I'd Find Someone Who Would Be So Kind", in 1978, followed by "Premonition" in 1979. The group toured Australia's eastern states and had residencies in Perth before relocating to Melbourne in early 1980. They disbanded in late 1981. Notable releases include the retrospective compilation album From Broadway to Blazes, issued in 2017, which received a four-out-of-five star rating from Tim Sendra of AllMusic.
