The Gourishankar, a progressive rock band from Russia, was formed in 2001 in Syktyvkar by guitarist Alexandr "Nomy" Agranovich and keyboardist Doran Usher. The group released their debut demo EP Integral Symphony in 2002, followed by their first studio album Close Grip in 2003. Their second studio album, 2nd Hands, was released by Unicorn Digital in 2007 and was nominated for the Prog Awards 2007 in the Best Foreign Band category, as well as for Best Debut of the Year at Deutsche progressive pages, taking second place. In 2015, ArtBeat Music released a deluxe edition heritage group called The Gourishankar Anthology: 1st Decade. The band's third studio album, The World Unreal, was released in 2016.
