The Dominican sonero Raulín Rosendo was born Raúl Amado Martínez in Villa Duarte, Santo Domingo, on August 30, 1957. After relocating to New York, he made his debut at the age of 12 with the merengue ensemble El Chivo y Su Banda and collaborated with other established acts in the salsa scene such as Fernando Villalona, Conjunto Clásico, and Los Vecinos. His recording career as a solo artist began in 1991 with the LP Salsa, Solamente Salsa and reached its peak during the mid-90s with titles like ¡Lo Máximo!: El Sonero del Pueblo (1993) and El Sonero Que el Pueblo Prefiere (1995), the latter of which included the hit single "Uno Se Cura." In the following years, the albums Dominicano Para el Mundo (1996), Llegó la Ley (1998), and Donde Me Coja la Noche (1999) solidified his reputation as one of the biggest salsa artists of his generation. Even though he went on an extended hiatus shortly after the release of 2006's Dame Otra Oportunidad, a revitalized Raulín Rosendo made a comeback in 2021 with the full-length Tranquilo Que Yo Controlo.
