Darren Graham, known professionally as Darren Day, was born on 17 July 1968 in Colchester, Essex and established himself as a singer, actor and television presenter. His early years were marked by drama lessons and a brief stint as a professional snooker player, before he turned to performance arts and joined a comedy cabaret trio at seventeen. Darren Day’s breakthrough in music came with the release of the single "Young Girl" in 1994, which reached Number 42 on the UK Singles Chart, followed by "Summer Holiday Medley" in 1996 that peaked at Number 17. In 1997 he issued the album Summer Holiday, and in 1998 the album Darren Day achieved Number 62 on the UK charts. His 2009 single "Wired For Sound" entered the UK Singles Chart at Number 66, and in 2011 he released "Only The Good Die Young", reaching Number 71. Throughout his career Darren Day collaborated with notable performers such as Kevin Kennedy in We Will Rock You and appeared in touring productions of Grease, The Rocky Horror Show and Misery. His stage work earned a nomination for Best Actor at the Off West End Awards for the 2012 production of The Last Session.
