Phil Lesh & Friends was an American rock band formed in 1994 and led by former Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh. The group emerged from an acoustic incarnation at the Berkeley Community Theatre, featuring Phil Lesh, Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, and Vince Welnick, and evolved into a rotating ensemble that explored Grateful Dead repertoire alongside blues, southern rock, and jazz influences. Their studio album, There and Back Again (2002), showcased new material by Lesh and Robert Hunter and collaborations with Warren Haynes and Jimmy Herring, while Live at the Warfield (2006) captured a high‑energy performance with John Scofield and Greg Osby. Phil Lesh & Friends toured extensively, including the 2006 Instant Live project and the 2008 Deadheads for Obama concert, and performed at venues such as the Warfield Theatre and Terrapin Crossroads. The group disbanded in 2024 after Lesh passed away on October 25 of that year.
