Old Canes, a rock band from Lawrence, Kansas, was established in October 2001 when Christopher Crisci began performing solo acoustic shows. The band's formation followed Crisci's decision to repurpose three Appleseed Cast demos as Old Canes songs during an European tour. Crisci formally pursued Old Canes in 2003. Their debut album Early Morning Hymns was released on July 20, 2004, recorded in Crisci's home studio. The band's second album, Feral Harmonic, was released on October 20, 2009, under Saddle Creek Records. Old Canes features touring musicians such as John Momberg, Taylor Holenbeck, Sam Goodell, Rusty Scott, Kelly Hangauer, Lucas Oswald, and Jeff Stolz.
