Born on February 27, 1928, Maxim Saury is part of France's jazz heritage. A promoter of the New Orleans style to which he remained faithful throughout his life, the clarinettist and big band leader is inseparable from the Parisian scene at the Caveau de la Huchette, where he took up residence from 1954 to 1967. Appearing in films by Otto Preminger, Marcel Carné and Jacques Tati's Mon oncle , he died on November 15, 2012 at the age of 84.
