Los Guayabers

Los Guayabers are a Mexican cumbia-comedy group presented as part satire, part party-band, tied to online creator Gabriel Montiel (Werevertumorro), who described the project as having been active for several years before its first big single cycle. Based in Mexico City and presented as coming from Cuatlamayan, Hidalgo, the act broke through in 2015 with the single “¿Qué nos pasó?”, pushed with a widely shared video and framed as a “serious” production even when the concept leaned into parody and pop-culture humor. After that initial moment, their catalog expanded with a second wave of dancefloor-ready singles—“Maquina,” “La Cumbia De La Base,” “El Hombre Perfecto,” and “La Banda Del Escorpion” (all 2019)—keeping the sound anchored in straightforward cumbia grooves and chant-along hooks.
