Having spent the last year lighting up stages alongside internationals like Frank Turner (UK) and Tiny Moving Parts (USA), Sydney/Gadigal emo-revival quartet Great Job! now proudly reveal their debut album ‘Love and Feel Loved’.
A cathartic journey through self-analysis, battles with mental health and finding your place in the world, ‘Love and Feel Loved’ sees the band at their most sincere - toeing the line between punk infused crowd chants and moments of unfiltered tenderness. As vocalist Charlie Hollands confesses: “The whole album essentially revolves around a question I ask myself every day: ‘My life is good, isn’t it? I’m living comfortably with the person I love, so why am I so sad?’
Using self-deprecating humour as the ultimate defence mechanism, Great Job! create an infectious world that finds light in some of life’s most challenging moments. Charlie’s unmistakably Australian vocals effortlessly range from scratchy to falsetto, while the band’s rhythm section in bassist Nat Jones and drummer Nick Cranch anchor each track with commanding force. Guitarist James Vermeesch - who produced and mixed the album - balances these moments of anxiety and clarity with precision, giving each personal story the right home.
