Jayanthi Kumaresh, born in 1969 in India, is a classical musician renowned for her mastery of the Saraswati veena. She began her formal training at age three under her mother, Lalgudi Rajalakshmi, and later studied with Vidushi Padmavathy Ananthagopalan and S. Balachander. Kumaresh's career took off in the early 1980s with extensive touring, including performances at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Lincoln Center. She released her album December Season in 2007, followed by Thillana Thillana and Mysterious Duality. Notable collaborations include the trio Triveni with Kala Ramnath and Zakir Hussain, and the Indian National Orchestra. Kumaresh received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2022 and the Sangeet Shikhar Samman from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in 2019. Her web series Cup O’ Carnatic has garnered millions of views, and a stage version was presented in Bengaluru (2024) and Chennai (2025).
