Massimo Moriconi, born on May 20, 1955, in Rome, Italy, is an Italian bassist known for his work in jazz and pop music. He started playing bass guitar at 13 and studied classical double bass at the Conservatory in Frosinone. Moriconi's early career included performances with groups led by Romano Mussolini, Armando Trovajoli, Nicola Arigliano, and Marcello Rosa. From 1980 to 1989, he was a member of the RAI Orchestra in Rome. Moriconi collaborated with numerous artists, including Oscar Valdambrini, Enrico Pieranunzi, Franco D’Andrea, and pop musicians like Mina, Fabio Concato, and Fiorella Mannoia. His discography includes albums such as Bass in the Sky (1981) and Full (1987). Moriconi has also been active as an educator, working at institutions like Università della Musica and Percentomusica in Rome, and authored several instructional books on bass playing. He received awards for his contributions, including best Kontrabassist and best Studiobassist (Guitar Club, 1995).
