Jaime Murrell, born on October 31, 1949, in Panama City, Panama, was a singer known for his work in Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) and pop music. He began singing in his church choir as a child and won a singing contest at 18, leading to a year-long television appearance. Jaime Murrell initially gained fame with secular groups like Skorpio and Los Mozambiques. In 1970, he became the vocalist for Skorpio, recording several hits. At age 28, Jaime Murrell shifted his focus to Christian music, joining the group Kyrios in 1979. He moved to Miami in 1981 to pastor at the Catedral del Pueblo church for 13 years, preparing him for an international career as a singer and minister. Jaime Murrell's notable albums include Déjame que te alabe (1997), Prometo amarte (2000), which was nominated for a Dove Award in 2001, and Te pido la paz. His song "Te pido la paz" won categories such as Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Composition of the Year at the Premios AMCL. He also collaborated with Marcos Witt on projects like Preparad el camino, recorded in Jerusalem. In 2004, he was nominated for a Premio Arpa as Best Male Singer. Jaime Murrell passed away on February 4, 2021, at the age of 71 due to complications from COVID-19.
