Yo Yo Mundi, an Italian folk band from Acqui Terme, was formed in 1988 around Paolo Enrico Archetti Maestri. The group's early performances included a concert against pollution in the Bormida Valley during the summer of 1988. Their first release was the cassette demo Freccia Vallona in 1989. Notable collaborations include working with Brian Ritchie and Gordon Gano from Violent Femmes on their 1994 album La diserzione degli animali del circo, and with Teresa De Sio on the song "Girotondo" in 1996. The band's 2001 project, Sciopero, a soundtrack for Sergei Eisenstein’s silent film Strike, received critical acclaim and was performed internationally, including at London's Barbican Centre.
