Raised in the American Southwest, SOOJUNG’s ruminative, nostalgic sound prompts myths of grief, fate, and yearning. Their music, named “southwest Korean American bootgaze,” explores the dreamscape of inherited sorrows, personal and familial folklores, and desperation for something more. With an extensive career in theatre and poetry, SOOJUNG transitions to using music as a worldbuilding and storytelling device for the more simple longings: acceptance, expression, and home.
