Biografie

Douwe Bob Posthuma, known professionally as Douwe Bob, is a Dutch singer-songwriter born on December 12, 1992, in Amsterdam. He comes from a Frisian family and is the son of Simon Posthuma, a member of the renowned design collective The Fool. Musically gifted from an early age, Douwe Bob began playing the piano at six, focusing on classical music and jazz. He later took up guitar at 14 and found inspiration in country, folk, and pop music from the 1950s to the mid-1970s. Douwe Bob was catapulted to fame in 2012 when he won the Dutch talent show De beste singer-songwriter van Nederland. His soulful performance of “Multicoloured Angels” in the finale garnered significant attention and peaked at Number 17 on the Dutch Top 40 chart. His debut album, Born in a Storm, was released in 2013 and reached Number 7 in the Netherlands. In 2015, he collaborated with Anouk to produce the single "Hold Me" and later released his sophomore effort Pass It On with Universal Music Group. The album soared to the top of the Dutch charts and was followed by the equally successful Fool Bar in 2016. That year, Douwe Bob represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest with his song “Slow Down,” finishing in eleventh place. Further diversifying his career, Douwe Bob became a coach on the seventh season of The Voice Kids in 2017. In 2018, he released his fourth studio album, The Shape I’m In, described as a break-up record. Born to Win, Born to Lose, his fifth full-length album, came out in 2021 and went to Number 3 in the Netherlands. It was followed by the non-album singles "Season of Your Dreams/Summer Breeze" (2022), "Someone You Love" (2022), and "This World Is Our Home" (2023), which entered the Dutch Top 30 at Number 28. February 2024 saw the release of his new album for V2 Records Benelux, Where Did All the Cool Kids Go? which was teased by the single "Nothing To Lose" in January 2024 and featured highlights in "Cool Kids" and "Lost in Time." The LP was produced by Gordon Groothedde.
