Originally from Schenectady, New York, Orange County, California-based singer-songwriter/piano man Rick Paul writes mature, often thought-provoking, songs about life and love. Growing up immersed in the 1970s’ multi-genre radio formats instilled a love of many musical genres, and Paul’s own recordings have covered bases ranging from pop to rock to country. His vocals are most frequently compared to artists such as Dan Fogelberg, Neil Young, and Don Henley, while his piano playing is often inspired by his primary musical influence, Elton John. Other key influences include 1990s country and modern pop music.
After having several of his songs recorded and released by independent artists beginning in the late 1990s, including having a top 5 hit for radio and video play in Mongolia via pop singer Nominjin, Rick began releasing his own recordings in the late 2000s. He has since released six full-length albums and upwards of 50 singles. His latest, 2022’s “Thinking With My Heart” explores the head/heart relationship in both love and life path.
