Soul Clap Records presents ‘Reprise Tonight’, the debut long player from FSQ. Features guest appearances from funk royalty, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, Nona Hendryx, Fonda Rae, Denise King, and Dolette McDonald. The album tells the story of a person who gets the opportunity to have one last party and how far they can push it in 24hrs!
FSQ was started by George Clinton's nephew Sa'd 'The Hourchild' Ali, and Chuck Da Fonk Fishman who met in the mid 90s as touring members of George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic. Together with 8 times Grammy nominated G Koop, they became FSQ - a production team committed to creating original funk of supreme quality. Boston based guitar hero Chas Bronz, Philadelphia drummer One Era, and New York audio engineer and synth wizard Morgan Wiley joined a few years later.
The title track ‘Reprise Tonight’ features Philadelphia disco and jazz vocalist Denise King; it's a stripped back 95 bpm funk groove, with a west coast bounce. On ‘Dancefloor Democracy’, Parliament-Funkadelic’s George Clinton and his son Trey Lewd handle the vocals, with original Funkadelic bass player Billy Bass Nelson on deck. ‘Peel Back’ features Nona Hendryx and layers of 80s boogie funk with Bernie Worrell inspired synths. ‘What They Don't Know’ is led Dolette McDonald, vocalist of Talking Heads and Sting. ‘11am’ features legend Fonda Rae, the voice known for big hits like ‘Touch Me’ and ‘Over Like a Fat Rat’.
