Hailing from the infamous Dirty South, ILENE's multicultural, genre-bending journey into music mirrors a secret escape from her turbulent childhood. Homeschooled, she was reading at 3 years old. Initially immersed in literature, she transitioned her love of reading to a love of writing stories and poems, which overtime became undercover songs. In secret, ILENE made music in fear of succumbing to her family's extensive (and highly discouraged) musical lineage. With her vivid imagination, she would improv musicals and songs on the spot. Journaling lyrics and poetry evolved into winning writing contests and rap battles in school. To this day, she channels all of her songs, describing her songs as “writing themselves”.
In 2015, ILENE emerged as a music artist, recording demos at home in her bedroom and publishing unreleased songs online. After joining BandLab in 2018, she amassed a 153k-strong international following, winning global songwriting contests. ILENE was selected for the BandLab Creator Grant in 2022 amidst the throes of the pandemic.
2024 marks ILENE’s breakthrough, collaborating with multi-platinum Epikh Pro and other acclaimed producers to create a wide variety of genre-bending bops, featuring her refreshingly unique sound, addictive vocals, elastic tonality, and original-yet-catchy hooks. This wide range of musicality reflects the rich tapestry of her ancestry. ILENE is here to stay, a hot-headed rising diamond in the rough, ready to shine. Stay tuned for more.
