Michael James is an electronic music project by South African born producer/singer-songwriter, Michael Grobler.
Michael was drawn to music from a young age, quickly catching onto a tune and melody on long car drives down to the coast. This love of music was nurtured by his mom as she urged him to pick up an instrument when he was 13 years old: his first instrument being the acoustic guitar.
A world opened up for Michael as he started songwriting and learning the guitar and even more so when he stumbled upon music production from a high school friend when he was 16 years old.
With more than 10 years of music experience and 5 years in the music industry, having produced and written for various South African projects ranging from Pop, Jan-Mattys, and Alternative-Rock, Duncan Laubscher, to Australian Electronic/Afrohouse Artist, Mapimpi, Michael is venturing out on his first solo project.
Follow along as Michael James brings in a broad range of influences as he approaches the exploration of the human experience through storytelling and capturing emotions as he explores new territory in the electronic sphere.
Or like, meh, I just really love making music.
