"Born in the suburbs on the best days"
“Born in the suburbs on the best days”, Carlos Ramon de Souza Procópio comes from the north side of Rio de Janeiro and represents one of the greatest talents in the alternative scenario.
He started participating in freestyle circles in 1999 in Lapa. In 2004, he consecrated his vocation by winning the Super Challenge Six (championship with the biggest prize of Mc ’s battles in Brazil in that period).
In 2010 he promotes his solo work with the single "Se Ela Soubesse...", which generated strong repercussions throughout Brazil, with more than millions of plays and a great media coverage. Between 2012 and 2013 he released a singles sequence with prominence for “O BPM da MPB”, which was authorized by the master Chico Buarque for the song “Samba e amor”.
In addition to Mc, he is also a trumpeter. And he compiles his skills with improvisations and instrumental arrangements, as well as in his own productions as a beatmaker.
In 2014 he released the long-awaited first solo album of his career, called “Circo dos Motivos ”. In 2017, together with the renowned producer Rafael Tudesco (L.A.), he released the EP “Made in Madureira”, which marks the maturity of the artist, and all his versatility in a trip through the suburbs.
In 2018, at the invitation of Red Bull Music, he participated in the Pulse project, a music camp residence with other Brazilian music talents.
In 2019, he took his art to the world. In his Eurotour, he performed at several festivals and expressive events across Europe, passing through Lisbon, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin.
In 2020, he releases his second album. “Arteiro” explores peripheral Brazilian rhythms and their musical plurality with elegance and the essentially present contestative acidity. With furious waves, beats and sophisticated arrangements, the album features participations by Djonga, Luedji Luna, Malía, L7NNON, MV Bill and BK ’. Highlight for the video of the track “Vivência”, which won the Best Music Video award, at the LAMV Music Video Festival in Los Angeles.
Ramonzin believes that his music goes beyond of the rap. Music without labels or stereotypes, which is due to the natural need to express his art; and that purpose reflect in his speech. Its avant-garde rhetoric with a Brazilian essence precipitates the horizons of a new musical construction. A fine rap, but with the language of the street and an indisputable popular footprint.
