This musician and producer was born in São Paulo, Brazil . Mauricio began learning music with his father, an amateur musician, when he was 11 years old.
In 1984 Mauricio graduated in Social Communication, having specialized in the Audiovisual sector of "Escola de Comunicação e Artes" at the University of São Paulo (USP).
In 1987 Mauricio and some of his closest fellow musicians founded "Nouvelle Cuisine," a jazz band that gained wide attention in Brazil's cultural scene. (http://www.allmusic.com/artist/nouvelle-p482263).
In 1999 ybmusic launches its own independent record label, releasing some of the top talents in the new Brazilian musical scene, names like: Luedji Luna, Nina Becker, Tulipa Ruiz, Nação Zumbi, Lulina, Romulo Fróes, Turbo Trio, Curumin, Felipe Cordeiro, Siba and bringing back to light names from the past like Trio Mocotó and Walter Franco. Ybmusic also released a fine selection of Brazilian classical music recordings and jazz albums.
As ybmusic's A&R and music producer, Mauricio won several APCA (São Paulo Art Critics Association) Awards for his work as Best Album ("Samba Power", Nereu, 2005), Best Group (Trio Mocotó, 2006), Best Composer (Badi Assad, 2012) and Best Group at Prêmio da Musica Brasileira 2015 (Saulo Duarte e a Unidade), Best Music Publishing House at Prêmio Profissionais da Musica 2016.
Alone or with his Nouvelle Cuisine and ybmusic partner Luca Raele, Maurício Tagliari has been writing scores for feature films and TV series since 1998.
From 2012 on he has been curating and providing musical direction for special music projects and documentaries for the cable TV channel Canal Brasil, such as "Cada Canto," "Cantoras do Brasil," and "Forró Eterno - 100 anos de Luiz Gonzaga." Mauricio also provides musical curatorship to several music events and festivals. As solo recording artist, he released two albums : MAô: Contraponto e Fuga da Realidade (ybmusic, 2019) and MAô : Falta de Estudo # 1 (ybmusic, 2020) MAô: Allegro Dentro do Possível, MAô: Danças Típicas de Cidades Imaginárias and six singles.
