French indie pop & trip-hop group Polar System formed in 2016 around Marius Corthay (guitar/keyboard) and Lili Barletta (lead singer) – both of them talented singers-songwriters. Tom Wallop joined them on bass, bringing in a dark and deep touch along with Jérémy Tripogney on hybrid drums.
Their debut EP Polar System (June 2019) was surfing on an atmospheric pop wave tinged with rock energy echoing the sound of predecessors such as The XX. 2020 lockdown was a turning point for the band leading them to an electronic’s modern pulse and trip hop path with the release of their single Rain (July 2020) and the composition of new tracks recalling Portishead as well as Billie Eilish or Sevdaliza.
In order to offer their audience an immersive and multi-sensory experience, Polar System relies on a whole range of state- of-the-art systems with the help of professionals such as the french stage design collective ‘Collectif Nymphe’ and visual artist Kaspar Ravel through his use of Glitch Art. As a virtuoso encoder, he screens glitched videos adding a virtual dimension to the live performance, which allows the audience to be in connection with the band and escape with them, like their last show in Paris, Café De La Danse (january 2020).
