Tom Cooper is a London-based producer, musician and multi-instrumentalist. Inspired by artists such as WOLFCLUB, Timecop1983, Morgan Willis and further afield Daft Punk & Prince, his tracks feature a half-time, broken beat feel, blended with soaring synth leads and catchy melodic hooks. Tom first discovered synthwave a couple of years ago and was immediately engaged by all the visuals of the genre, as well as the nostalgic rose-tinted aspect that shines through the music. As a child of the 80s and 90s the sound hearkens back to his memories of early youth (biased though they may be).
Tom’s life was following a drastically different path before now. In 2013 he was living in China studying martial arts and considering his future career in finance, when he broke his back and was paralysed from the waist down. He spent 6 months in hospital and it took him a couple of years to walk again. All this time struggling gave him space to think about what he really wanted out of life.
‘I thought to myself, “why am I spending time looking for jobs that I don’t care about? I want to follow my passion. I’ve been through hell, it’s time to do something I enjoy.”’
After much soul-searching Tom decided to pursue his artistic dream. Music has become a powerful source of energy and focus for Tom in a time of uncertainty. In mid 2020 he released his debut single “Count on You”.
