Khaled Hammad (born April 24, 1971) is an Egyptian-Russian composer, film director, instructor, and producer. In a career that has spanned three decades, he has composed some of the most popular, recognizable, and critically acclaimed movie and TV series scores in Egypt and the Middle East.
He is a composer who writes and excels in a wide variety of musical genres between orchestral, acoustic, electronic and synthesized to create imaginative and diverse soundscapes that blend seamlessly with the rest of the soundtrack, enhancing the drama and developing distinctive and immersive musical scores, while his non-dramatic works explore melodic, harmonic, and textural devices so as to construct organic, evocative, and colorful musical compositions. Films featuring Khaled's music have been screened and won awards at festivals around the world.
Khaled holds both nationalities, Egyptian and Russian, He studied music at The Higher Institute of Music Conservatory specializing in music composition and conducting with honor in 1995, where he was tutored by renowned contemporary professors and composers Awatef Abdel Kareem, Samha El Kholy, Rageh Dawood and Gamal Salama. He subsequently studied at The Higher Institute of Cinema where he graduated specializing in film directing with honor in 2000. As well as he composed soundtracks for the graduation projects at The Institute of Cinema. Other works by Khaled include developing theme music, sound designing, mixing. dubbing, and production services in cinema and television. He also works in the field of artistic media. His work has influenced other composers of film, popular, and contemporary classical music.
Hammad won numerous awards in both music and cinema fields nationally and internationally. He is a member of the International Society of Authors, Composers, and Publishers of Music (SACEM), a member of the Syndicate of Music Professions, and the Syndicate of Cinematographers.
Over the past decades, Khaled has written the music for dozens of feature films, short films, documentaries, adverts, and music themes of TV programs as well as composed dozens of TV series. His compositions are considered the epitome of film making him one of the great composers of any century.
