I'm reppin' the Flag, green black blue with the gold stripes...
Hailing from Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, Wakazi (born Webiro Noel Wassira) moved to Chicago, Illinois in pursuit of the American Dream, but his love for music steered him to a new path & purpose.
In a short time, the self proclaimed "The Leader", went from freestyles & mixtapes to opening up for big acts, evolving from a young prodigy to a lyrical giant who believes in nothing but Work Ethic as his keys to success.
Committed to his craft, now back in the motherland, Wakazi is poised to become Tanzania’s leading Hip Hop Ambassador, having a unique perspective that stems from his diverse background & exposure. Keen on technical aspect of music, has commercial appeal but also the ability to tackle various social-political issues.
His signature Blend of English and Swahili rhymes got him dubbed the “Bilingual Beast”. His ability to create context with clever usage of wordplay & metaphors is unparalleled, credits to his personal life experiences and his introspective mind.
2016 Kora Award Nomination, handful radio hits, critically acclaimed album (Kisimani), groundbreaking EP (Abacus) all in his resume, Wakazi still walks with a chip on his shoulder. As he raps, "confess that I'm one of the best of all time, and in no time, I guess I'll be in your top 5".
Recently embarked on a leadership journey through opposition politics, pioneering a Bilingual Artistry Movement in Tanzania (Temayai), Artists' Management (Workethic) and Empowerment Initiatives.
Wakazi has set the platform with which his dreams could be fulfilled; respect from peers, lyrically inclined, commercially viable and being The Leader.
The sky is the limit for this TZee Emcee.
