Feedtime, an Australian noise rock band from Sydney, New South Wales, was formed in December 1979 by Rick Johnson on guitar and vocals and Allen Larkin on bass guitar and vocals. Initially a duo, they soon became a trio with various drummers until 1982 when Tom Sturm joined permanently. Their debut album, feedtime, was independently released late in 1985, featuring a raw and heavy sound that mixed grinding guitars and driving beats. The band's second album, Shovel (1987), received significant critical acclaim and was released internationally by Rough Trade Records. They followed with Cooper-S (1988) and Suction (1989). Feedtime disbanded in February 1989 due to emotional and psychological issues faced by Johnson, who later admitted to having suffered a nervous breakdown. The band reunited briefly in 1995 for the album Billy (1996) before disbanding again in 1997.
