Musician, composer, educator. In Istanbul since 2016
Elia Casu began playing guitar at the age of 16 and was at the outset largely self-taught. After developing his own style, and taking his first steps with various rock bands, he discovered jazz and experimental music. He then obtained a degree in Jazz Guitar from the Conservatorio di Musica di Cagliari, in Sardinia, and continued his studies at the jazz national academy of Siena. He has collaborated with many national and international groups and artists, among them Stefano Battaglia, Oscar Del Barba, Nick Rivera, Giulio Corini, Francesco Ganassin, Andrea Ruggeri, Mirfo Onofrio, Elsa Martin, Takoma, Laura Mura, Erik Maltz and Hola La Poyana. He has performed all over Europe as a member of the bands OnGaku2, PER, Takoma, Nick Rivera, A.R.E., Rural Electrification Orchestra, and has played guitar on over 20 albums. In 2015 he moved to Peru and began working as a sound designer and composer for a media production company. Since 2016 he has been living in Istanbul.
