Virna Nova lives in music. She breathes in music. Even talks, sings and loves in music. And this music, like a vital sun, shines brightly in the heart of her guitar.
She is only five when she meets with her guitar around Toulon, the French town she lives in... Mutual love at first sight ! Her whole life changes then.
Virna discovers classical music, practices a lot, studies music theory and makes it to the CNSM of Paris, from which she soon wins First Prize.
The world's finally hers: tamtam, shekere... Music is calling from everywhere.
So, with gher guitar under her arm, she just drops scores and scales, and follows her horizon straight to Brazil.
Once there, she unlearns, then learns again, going with the flow and listening more and more to her inside feeling. Many encounters will follow... First, Manou Gallo, who will take her around the globe. Then Wyclef Jean, Ahmed Soultan, Tryo, Yael Naïm...
Virna Nova's guitar, full of sun, works wonders and naturally leads her to her first compositions , to her first songs.
Her new album, "Keep On", co-realized with head groover Julien Daian, resembles her.
In that music shaker, they put a pinch of soul, a hint of pop, a twist of jazz then, mixed them together with tropical rhythms , to serve it all live, the way Virna likes it.
Let's not forget a few notes from the Master Gnawa Hamid El Kesri ( who worked with Joe Zawinul or Jacob Collier ) , coming like a magician to offer sweet Moroccan flavours.
All this has given birth to a more organic and authentic sound, like warmer, perfectly made for matters of the heart and the soul, and for telling in song the intimate and the passion.
