Symphonic metal from Finland
Children of the Frost is a Finnish symphonic metal band founded in 2015 by the guitarist & vocalist Joni Renko. Their sound has been described as a mix of bands like Nightwish, Epica and Eternal Tears of Sorrow.
The music of Children of the Frost combines catchy melodies with heavy riffs and contrasts clean female vocals with raw death metal growls. Lyrically the band dives into darker waters, exploring the grim and desperate side of the human mind.
In the spring of 2015, after parting ways with his former band, Joni started recording some raw demos of songs he had accumulated over the years. One thing became clear: it was time to bring these songs to life with a full band.
Children of the Frost first stepped out of the rehearsal place and onto the stage in 2017. At the end of the year planning started for the first demo EP and in late 2018 said EP, titled “Songs of Woe and Sorrow”, was released.
In 2021 the band turns their gaze forward. Children of the Frost will return to the stage to bring their ambitious music to new places and audiences, as well as begin work on the follow-up to “Songs of Woe and Sorrow.”
