Vanessa Zamora’s emotive vocals coupled with her personal lyrical style has captivated audiences in her native Mexico.
Only in her early 20’s the Tijuana, Baja California native has already created the aura of an artist who has been around for quite some time. She’s quickly positioned herself as a steadfast interpreter of alternative pop who has two feet firmly planted in the Indie DIY world.
Vanessa’s debut album Hasta La Fantasia Released on Cosmica Records created a buzz amongst key tastemakers. For this project Zamora teamed up with Alejandro Jimenez (also known as recording artist “Jandro” and producer/engineer for Carla Morrison) to create a fresh, relevant yet melancholic record. Songs such as “Correr” (Run), and “Te Quiero Olvidar” (I Want To Forget You) reel you in with a distinctive voice and stirring tones that go beyond the acoustic guitar vibes. The lyrics possess a candid realness that makes you feel as Vanessa is singing about you, the listener. “Hasta La Fantasia” ushers you into her fantastical world of love, hope, despair and the universal desire to be loved and love back hard.
Vanessa has released her new record Tornaluna also out on Cosmica Records. Her first single “Hbls MUCHO” is out now and has garnered recognition from the likes of KCRW, Remezcla, and many other media outlets. Recorded in both Mexico City and the legendary Sonic Ranch just east of El Paso, Zamora is once again poised to realize further her status as one of Mexico’s most vibrant voices out now. Subsequent singles “Solegrande”, and “Malas Amistades” has found an ever- expanding audience.
Zamora has recently shared the center stage with the likes of: Natalia LaFourcade, Gaby Moreno, Ceci Bastida, La Santa Cecilia, and Ely Guerra. Vanessa has also performed at SXSW (and will be performing at SXSW 2019), LAMC, FIM (Guadalajara) and aiming for more live music platforms.
