Rondo is a Russian rock band formed in Moscow in 1984 by jazz saxophonist, composer, and arranger Michael Litvin, who quickly produced their first successful magnitoalbum Turnips. Initially playing new wave music and instrumental jazz-rock compositions, Rondo underwent several lineup changes, with Alexander Ivanov and Yevgeny Rubanov becoming permanent members. In 1987, Litvin dismissed the old structure and enlisted new musicians, leading to a period where two groups performed under the name Rondo in Moscow. Litvin emigrated to the United States in 1988, but his former musicians continued performing under the same name. A court decision in 1989 awarded the rights to the name Rondo to Ivanov's group. In 2003, they released their album Coda, and Ivanov officially announced the collapse of the group that same year. The band resumed activities under the title Rondo in 2005.
