Masked Wolf is the stage name of hip-hop artist Harry Michael Avramidis, who was born to Greek parents in Sydney, Australia, on February 12, 1991. A fan of American rap music, he became an active musician at a young age, teaching himself to write songs and play multiple instruments by his teenage years. His debut single, "Speed Racer," was released in December 2018, followed by songs like "Astronaut in the Ocean" and "Evil on the Inside" in 2019. Although none of these early releases charted, "Astronaut in the Ocean" went viral on social media platforms in 2020 and helped Masked Wolf secure a deal with Elekta Records. Rereleased by Masked Wolf's new label in 2021, "Astronaut in the Ocean" became an international, multi-platinum success, peaking at Number 1 in the Czech Republic, Greece, India, Hungary, and Slovakia. The song also climbed to Number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in America, where it went double-platinum. Co-written with Tyron Hapi, "Astronaut in the Ocean" earned four ARIA Award nominations, including "Song of the Year" and "Best Hip Hop Release." It also appeared on Masked Wolf's debut mix tape, Astronomical, which was released in September 2021 and climbed to Number 2 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers Albums chart.
