Biyografi

Born Elizabeth Grant in New York City, New York on June 21, 1985, Lana Del Rey became an Internet sensation in 2011 with her videos for “Blue Jeans” and “Video Games” and quickly became the latest buzz on music blogs. The daughter of a wealthy Internet investor, she had a difficult start, being sent away to boarding school at the age of 15 in an attempt to deal with her alcohol abuse. Changing her ways, she pursued a musical career under her real name Lizzy Grant, but her independently released 2008 debut EP Kill Kill received little attention and was quickly withdrawn. With the help of producer David Kahne, her songwriting evolved and she grew into the persona of Lana Del Rey. Her single “Born to Die” in 2011 reached Number 7 in the UK and the album of the same name went on to top the charts in seven countries. She won a BRIT Award in 2012 for Best International Breakthrough Act and another in 2013 for International Female Solo Artist. That year she also worked with director Baz Luhrmann to write the song “Young and Beautiful” for Luhrmann's film adaptation of The Great Gatsby. The track charted at Number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100. She continued her film work in 2014 recording a version of the song “Once Upon a Dream” for Maleficent. She returned to the studio to record her third album Ultraviolence with its first single “West Coast” being released in 2014. The album topped the charts in 12 countries including the UK and the USA. She recorded two songs that were used in Tim Burton's Big Eyes – “I Can Fly” and “Big Eyes” - as well as “Life Is Beautiful” for The Age of Adaline. After featuring on two songs on The Weeknd's Starboy album, she released her fifth album Lust for Life in 2017 with The Weeknd returning the collaborative favor on the title track. In 2019, she returned with sixth studio album Norman F**king Rockwell which featured the singles “Mariners Apartment Complex” and “Doin' Time”. Her 2020 spoken word release, Violet Bent Backwards over the Grass, was recorded to coincide with the release of her first book of poetry. In 2020 she made her first TV appearance in 8 years to perform “Let Me Love You Like a Woman”, on The Tonight Show, which appeared on the March 2021 release Chemtrails over the Country Club. Shortly after the release of the album, she announced that her next album, her eighth studio release, would be released in July of 2021. Although she released several singles – “Blue Banisters”, “Arcadia”, ‘Text Book”, and “Wildflower Wildfire” – the album was pushed back several times before she finally released Blue Banisters in late October 2021.
