Neil Buckland is an Australian composer of classical music in a lyrical style, influenced by early music, folk and world music, as well as twentieth century masters such as Sibelius, Ravel and Vaughan Williams. He gives an important place to melody in his compositions, believing, like Mozart, that it’s melody more than anything else that gives music its sense of meaning and continuity (“melody is the essence of music,” said Mozart).
