Gazpacho

Art rock / progressive band Gazpacho formed in Oslo, Norway in 1996. Founded by childhood friends Jon-Arne Vilbo (guitar) and Thomas Andersen (keyboards), the duo played music together for years but formed Gazpacho after meeting vocalist Jan-Henrik Ohme (vocals). The group’s line-up would later expand to include musicians including violinist Mikael Krømer, drummer Robert R Johansen, and bassist Kristian Torp. The group’s early lineup began work on a concept album entitled Random Access Memory but chose to abandon the project and focus on a less ambitious project for their debut. After issuing recordings online, they won the Make-A-Star contest in 2002 with their song “Sea of Tranquility.” Gazpacho released their official debut album, Bravo, in 2003. Their unique sound was often compared to modern progressive and alternative artists such as Marillion, Porcupine Tree, Sigur Rós, and Radiohead. With international critical acclaim, Gazpacho continued to release albums including When Earth Lets Go (2004), Missa Atropos (2010), March of Ghosts (2012), Demon (2014), Molok (2015), and Fireworker (2020). After a five year wait, the group released their 12th studio album, Magic 8-Ball, in 2025.
