Anna Tatangelo (born on January 9, 1987) is an Italian pop singer and philanthropist whose powerful voice and commanding stage presence propelled her to stardom in the early aughts. An accomplished vocalist and performer, Tatangelo excelled at singing competitions from a young age, winning several regional contests before her big breakthrough moment at the Sanremo Music Festival in 2002. She entered the competition with the track “Doppiamente fragile,” co-written with partner Gigi D’Alessio, and exceeded all expectations by becoming the youngest person ever to receive a Newcomer’s Award at the age of 15. Throughout her career, Tatangelo became a regular at the legendary festival, with a total of six appearances and three Top 3 performances. Following her successful debut at Sanremo, Tatangelo released Attimo per attimo (2003), Ragazza di periferia (2005), and the platinum winner Mai dire mai (2007), which peaked at Number 6 on FIMI’s charts and became one of the best-selling European albums that year. The singer then tackled the issue of domestic abuse with Nel mondo delle donne (2008), and released Progetto B (2011), an album that found her branching out to various styles including rock, dance music, and jazz. In subsequent years, Tatangelo remained at the forefront of Italian pop with Libera (2015), La fortuna sia con me (2019), and “Guapo” (2020), a crossover trap hit with rapper Geolier.
