Biyografi

Dom La Nena is the stage name of Brazilian-born, Paris-based cellist and singer-songwriter Dominique Pinto. Born in Porto Alegre in 1989, she initiated her piano studies at the age of 5 before switching to cello three years later. Around that time, Dom La Nena relocated to Paris with her family, only to move back to Brazil during her teenage years. There, she began a correspondence with American cellist Christine Walevska, who convinced her to move to Buenos Aires to study under her wing. After several years of training with Walevska, Dom La Nena returned to Paris, where she became a touring musician for Etienne Daho, Jane Birkin, and Jeanne Moreau. Following an international tour with Birkin, she began working on what would become her first full-length, Ela. Released in 2013, the album was recorded in Piers Faccini’s studio in the Cevenne Mountains over the course of a few weeks and was met with great critical acclaim. In 2014, she formed the duo Birds on a Wire with French-American singer Rosemary Standley and issued an eponymous album that contained cover versions of Henry Purcell, Leonard Cohen, and Caetano Veloso. A collection of remixes titled Ela Por Eles arrived that same year. Written with Marcelo Camelo (of Los Hermanos fame), second album Soyo saw the light in 2015 and was followed by the Cantando EP in 2016. Dom La Nena returned in 2020 with Ramages, Birds on a Wire’s sophomore effort, and dropped her third album, Tempo, in 2021. The LP featured production by Noah Georgeson and included the single “Quien Podrá Saberlo,” a duet with Mexican singer-songwriter Julieta Venegas.
