Yousseph Slimani, known professionally as Chico, was born on January 1, 1971 in Bridgend, Wales. He is a singer who rose to prominence after reaching the quarter-finals of the 2005 series of The X Factor. Slimani moved to Morocco at age two and returned to the UK at 14. Before his music career, he worked as an electrical engineer and performed with exotic dance troupes and as a stripper. Slimani's breakthrough came during his appearance on The X Factor, where he performed "If I Ever Fall in Love" and "Kiss" for his audition. His performance of the original song "It's Chico Time", co-written with Mark Hudson, became a hit single released in February 2006, reaching Number one on the UK Singles Chart. Following this success, Slimani released several EPs including D.I.S.C.O (2006), It's England Time! (2010), and Curvy Cola Bottle Body (2013). He also recorded a single in support of the English Football Team for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, titled "It's England Time". Slimani has made numerous public appearances across the UK, including performances at Butlins and Muslim events. His debut album Lights, Camera, Action was released in early 2009.
