Born to Guinean parents in Paris’ 14th arrondissement, French rapper Alpha Omar Wann (July 2, 1989), aka Alpha Wann, developed a taste for hip-hop culture through MTV and took his first steps in rap as co-founder of the hip-hop collective 1995. Composed of Wann, Areno Jaz, Nekfeu, and Sneazzy, the group jumped into the limelight with their self-produced debut EP La Source in 2011. That same year, he collaborated with Nekfeu on the collaborative mixtape En Sous-Marin. In 2014, Wann launched his solo career with the EP Alph Lauren, which was released via his own Don Dada Records. He followed up with the sequel EPs Alph Lauren 2 (2016) and Alph Lauren 3 (2018) before dropping his first full-length, Une Main Lave l’Autre (2018). Propelled by the single “Stupéfiant et noir,” the critically-acclaimed album climbed up to Number 10 on the French charts and went gold after selling 50,000 copies. An EP titled PPP saw the light in 2019 and the star-studded mixtape Don Dada Vol. 1 arrived the following year. Featuring guest spots by Nekfeu, Kaaris, and Deen Burbigo, the mixtape spawned the single “AAA,” which peaked at Number 18 on SNEP’s streaming charts.
