Born on 16 February 1995 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigerian singer, songwriter and Afrobeats producer Young John began his career in the 2010s with a string of songwriting credits for Hit Factory Studio and made a name for himself as an associate of Olamide's label YBNL Nation, or Yahoo Boy No Laptop Nation. His 2014 production for Olamide, "Story for the Gods," put him on the map as a producer and the following year he was nominated for Producer of the Year at the 2015 edition of The Headies for his work on Olamide's hit single "Bobo," which was featured on the Nigerian rapper's fifth studio album Eyan Mayweather. Young Jonn took home the Producer of the Year award at The Headies in 2016, also picking up the African Producer of the Year gong at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival in 2017. In 2022, his inaugurated his new deal with Chocolate City via new single "Dada," featured on his first solo EP, Love Is Not Enough (Vol. 1), which was released in April 2022. A follow-up EP, Love Is Not Enough (Vol. 2) also surfaced in 2022 with a slew of solo and collaborative singles emerging in 2023, including "Aquafina" and "Sharpally."
