Anna Wiktoria German-Tucholska, known professionally as Anna German, was born on February 14, 1936, in Urgench. She gained significant popularity as a Polish singer in Poland and the Soviet Union during the 1960s and 1970s. German began her music career at the Kalambur Theater while studying at the Geological Institute of the University of Wrocław. Her breakthrough came when she won the 1964 2nd National Polish Song Festival in Opole with "Tańczące Eurydyki" ('Dancing Eurydices'). The following year, she secured first prize at the Sopot International Song Festival. She performed internationally, including at the Sanremo Music Festival in Italy, and recorded songs in multiple languages. In 1967, a severe car accident in Italy left her with multiple fractures and internal injuries, temporarily halting her career. She returned to public performances in 1970, collaborating with notable composers such as Aleksandra Pakhmutova and Vladimir Shainsky. German passed away on August 26, 1982.
